About

Welcome to the AVA website

The Angeles Volunteer Association (AVA) is a public service organization dedicated to the preservation and care of the Angeles National Forest and the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument.  Our volunteers assist the U.S. Forest Service in its efforts to maintain forest/monument resources and to provide visitors with opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities, such as camping, picnicking, hiking and fishing. AVA was founded in 1993 and is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation.

Location:
Currently, most activities of the Angeles Volunteer Association occur in the San Gabriel River Ranger District.  This is the area of the National Forest north of the cities of Azusa, Glendora, San Dimas and Claremont.

Adventure Pass
The National Forest Adventure Pass was developed to assist the four National Forests in Southern California -- Angeles, San Bernardino, Los Padres and Cleveland -- in keeping with your ever growing recreation demands.
This program allows the forest to collect fees in the form of a recreation use pass, available for daily or yearly purchase and reinvest 80% of those fees in your favorite recreation areas on the forests.
The pass is designed to be displayed in your vehicle while parked for recreation purposes in a High Impact Recreation Area. Effective June 2005, some more remote areas of the forests do not require purchase of an Adventure Pass. Please note that certains locations such as campgrounds may require payment of a special fee. To view the Angeles National Forest map (.pdf) showing High Impact Recreation Areas please click here.

Adventure Passes are on sale at local vendors and the following Forest Service locations:
San Gabriel River Ranger District District Office (in Glendora)
Crystal Lake VIS
